Case context · Tribunal listing checked 3 November 2026
The Rightmove court case.
Why we’re building Rigove.
A proposed collective claim against Rightmove has a certification hearing listed for 2 November, with 3 November in reserve. Rigove’s independent founding-agent campaign was planned alongside that hearing.
The claimant estimates damages at around £1.5bn, alleging excessive and unfair portal fees. Those allegations have not been decided. Read the claimant’s account of the proposed claim ↗
What does the Tribunal listing say?
As checked on 3 November 2026, the Competition Appeal Tribunal case page still lists a hearing on the application for a Collective Proceedings Order for 2 November 2026, with 3 November in reserve, in Mr Jeremy Newman v Rightmove PLC and Rightmove Group Limited. The listing does not state whether the hearing took place or give an outcome.
The hearing concerns whether the proposed collective proceedings can proceed. It is not a judgment on the underlying allegations. The Tribunal records an earlier hearing on 16 July, so November is not the case’s first hearing.

Why Rigove’s campaign was planned alongside it
Our founding-agent campaign was planned to coincide with the certification hearing. The case puts portal fees and competition in the spotlight; our aim is to invite agents to help build another route to buyers.
We think property discovery should offer more routes between homes, local buyers, and the agents marketing them. We’re recruiting founding agents for a local collection of homes they report are not currently on Rightmove.
This is a developing pilot, not a populated national portal. We’re seeking actual eligible homes, people who can maintain their status, and practical feedback on what makes another channel useful.
Our independent position
Rigove is not affiliated with Rightmove, Mr Newman, the claim’s representatives or funder, or the Tribunal. We do not suggest that any party endorses Rigove. Joining the pilot does not require an agent to leave a portal or make a public statement about the litigation.
For journalists
The current announcement is a founding-agent invitation: a practical attempt to establish local supply and test buyer demand. Agency participation, stock numbers, and research findings will be described only when substantiated and authorised.
